Weed of the Week: Salvinia molesta

In today’s weed of the week, we’re highlighting the aquatic weed salvinia or more accurately by the botanic name of salvinia molesta. It is also known globally as giant salvinia, aquarium water moss, kariba weed, African payal and water fern.

Originating from Brazil, it is another category 3 weed due to its devastating effects on our waterways and its ability to reproduce when attempts are made to remove it.
