National Schools Tree Day is a day promoted by the government for school communities to get involved in Australia’s biggest tree planting event.
Schools Tree Day provides students with practical, hands-on learning while contributing to the enhancement of the local environment.
Regen Australia are supporting this event by supplying almost 1000 plants to our long-time partner Watergum who are planting the trees with Toogoolawa School to engage students out of the classroom and into nature to help regenerate the ecosystem.
This project is improving the wildlife corridor along Canungra Creek which connects to Lamington National Park, and the trees will help to promote habitat for wildlife, such as shelter and food, as well as securing the flow of the creek through strengthening the banks.
Our thanks to our friends over at Watergum for allowing us to share their photos in this story, and to our Regen Nursery manager Gabrielle for putting this story together for us.
