Lantana Removal in Nerang National Park

Regen Australia had recently undertaken works in Nerang National Park to control Lantana (Lantana camara) as part of a grant for a local community organisation.

As seen in the before and after images below, Lantana can grow much more quickly than native plant species, allowing it to completely dominate sections of bush, preventing a variety of native plants from growing there (as seen in the first image on the left).

Areas of bush with gaps in the canopy which allow sunlight, rain, and nutrients to reach the ground are particularly susceptible to infestation by Lantana. Thankfully though, Lantana can be controlled relatively easily by a team of skilled bush regenerators (as seen in the second image above on the right using a variety of methods, often achieving great long-term results for the bush.
